Self-hosted UK hillwalking map tiles built from OpenStreetMap data with classified summits (Munros, Corbetts, Grahams), 10m contour lines, OS cliff data, and hypsometric tinting. Plus a local elevation API covering all of Great Britain.

What's Included

Vector Map Tiles

OpenMapTiles-schema vector tiles with custom hillwalking layers. Zoom 0-14.

  • Classified summits: Munro, Corbett, Graham with prominence
  • Full UK path/track network (OS-style green dashes)
  • OS VectorMap District cliff/crag polygons
  • 10m contour lines with index intervals
  • Water features, buildings, place names

Elevation API

Local SRTM DEM lookup covering all of Great Britain. No rate limits.

  • Batch queries: up to 1000 coordinates per request
  • Bilinear interpolation for accuracy
  • Sub-10ms response times
  • Coverage: lat 49-61, lon -10 to 2 (all UK + Ireland)
  • Simple REST API: /api/elevation?lats=...&lngs=...

Hypsometric Raster Tiles

Elevation-tinted raster overlay. OS-inspired colour ramp from green lowlands to pale peaks.

  • PNG raster tiles at 256px
  • Alpha transparency for overlay use
  • Colour-relief from SRTM/Copernicus DEM

Route Planner

Interactive map with point-to-point route plotting, elevation profiles, and GPX export.
